This was rather an interesting match to begin with. Spearhead and Trailblazers, both teams formed through the birth of Spearhead Floorball Club, had to face-off their first match of the league against each other! Being new to the floorball scene in Penang and in PFL Div II for that matter, it was definitely an interesting way for these two newbies to kick-start their campaign.

Spearhead notably the stronger team is made up by an all-guys team. Their presence was made known from the beginning of the match as they took control of the game with great ease. With their speedy captain, Daniel Boey, leading the pack in the centre, Trailblazers hardly had chance to break pass the half-way mark. In fact, their defense and goalkeeper hardly had much 'play time' with the ball. Trailblazers made up by both genders found it hard to break the speedy runs of Spearhead players. Without really much effort, Spearhead knocked it a couple of goals early in the first period, breaking the deadlock as early as 3 minutes into the game. The number of shots on target proved the game to be one-sided.

Trailblazers, although outclassed physically and in speed, seemed to hold nothing back against Spearhead. Although they were constantly being attacked by Spearhead forwards' like Parthiban, Jay-Sern and Low Soon Wei, at times they managed to turn the table around and executed several good scares against them. Trailblazers' forward like Syamim and Jia Jun made several good runs and took few good attempts at goal which surprised the very relaxed goalkeeper, Syahmi of Spearhead. In the end, the too relaxed Spearhead line conceded a sloppy goal at the back. Although they lost, they displayed good spirit in the game. Bravo.

MoMs:

Spearhead:

Low Soon Wei. This rather new player shown the hunger to score without any hesitation. Although lacking in technical and tactical skills, he made several good runs and took ample chance at goal. He has what we call the 'killer instinct'.

Trailblazers:

Amelia Lim. This girl fears nothing on court. She is one tough girl who would go all out against any team and anyone. Like Soon Wei, she is also new to the game but has shown the courage to play tough against the guys. Lacking in skills, speed and possibly size, but she has not let those things impede her game.

Borak says:

Spearhead being the dominant side had the match in their firm grip. Physically stronger and technically better, Spearhead at times, literally waltz through the opponents zone without much resistance. However, their overall positioning offensively and defensively was so to speak, inexperience. The huge gap in the middle due to the lack of backtracking and defenders sitting too deep was well exploited by Trailblazers. Luckily, only one was conceded, question is will the others be as merciful?

On the other hand, Trailblazer which was made up mostly by girls were helpless in their attempt to halt Spearhead's stampede. It was a cruel baptism of fire for the newbies who barely know the game., yet more challenges lie ahead. Considering that they are still inexperience, working out a simple defensive formation would be the most reasonable strategy for now.
